The Stars Lean Down To Kiss You, as I Lie Awake and Miss You
The Other day I was hit with a huge dose of reality. It was brought to my attention that a boy I went to school with in MN, since 6th Grade, was killed by a drunk driver on Nov. 22, 2009. I never was very good friends with this boy, Jon Kramnic, but I knew him and I think that is what's getting to me the most.
When I found out I broke down. Why is it that a 17 year-old boy, who had everything in the world going for him, was taken from this earth?
I was forced to recall back to Nov. 20, 2006, almost exactly 3 years early, when another classmate and friend of mine, Brandon Lanie, died in a hunting accident. I was still living in MN at the time when Brandon died, I remember the tears, the sudden sadness felt when I received the news. I joined a group on facebook in remembrance of Jon. I couldn't keep back the tears I had when I read the posts written from Jon's dad and others, sharing memories. On Brandon's facebook page this was written to Brandon from his Mom:
" Hey Brandon, Take care of your friend, Jon Kramnic, as he joins you in heaven. God picks the best flowers for his garden first."
If only the families of these 2 amazing people knew that they can see them again, if they only had the knowledge. But, then there is me. I grew up knowing that there is life after death and that families are forever, Yet here I am questioning and wondering why! Why them? Maybe they were chosen for a bigger task that none of us know about? What ever the reason it is getting to me. Am I living the way that I should be? What if today was my last day?
Graduation is in 2 and a half months. High school, a huge part of my life is almost over. I know that there is so much more outside of high school, but time shows no mercy. It travels at its own pace and its up to us to keep up.
The time we are given on this earth is it. Sometimes I need to take a step back and ask myself; " When I look back is that what I want to remember, will I be proud of my decisions?"
This experiance has been life changing. Jon and Brandon are greatly missed. They are perfect examples of living our lives to the fullest. We need to spend our time with the ones we love, doing the things we love to do and loving every precious minute.
We just need to take a step back.
In Loving Memory of;
Brandon Lanie: 06/05/1992 to 11/20/2006
Jon Kramnic: 06/29/1992 to 11/22/2009
